VIEW BIONIC ARMSWe are Limbitless Solutions Inc., a non-profit direct support organization at the University of Central Florida. We specialize in creating and donating personalized 3D-printed prosthetic arms for children.
At Limbitless Solutions, our mission is to empower confidence and increase accessibility in the limb difference community through art-infused bionics. Our team combines engineering and art to promote access and engagement in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) education for a more inclusive future.
In 2005, an estimated 1.6 million people in the US had a limb difference: 541,000 people had an upper-arm limb difference.
This value was projected to double by 2050.
More than 32,500 children in the US have experienced a major pediatric amputation
5 in 10,000 children are born with limb difference
Cosmetically realistic myoelectric hands that open and close may cost $20,000 to $30,000 or more, while a neuroprosthetic arm may cost as much as $100,000.
Usage rates reported for upper limb devices are as low as 37%.
At our location on the University of Central Florida main campus, we work with undergraduate student interns using project-based learning to support their professional development. We also hold STEAM education camps and visit local schools to share our message of “3D Hope” and raise awareness on accessibility issues.
For many of our bionic kids it was never about picking things up. It was about changing the conversation surrounding limb difference and becoming the catalyst for change through personalization of our 3D-printed prosthetics. Each arm we create is a reflection of a bionic kid’s personality and aspires to empower confidence in them through expressive bionics.
Accessibility and inclusivity are at the center of each project, beginning with a culture of inclusivity within our own team. We prioritize an environment where our team members are able to participate equally, feel valued, and have a sense of belonging, so our bionic kids can feel the same.
Each child who receives a bionic arm becomes a part of our Limbitless family. Our bionic kids and their families are always the core of our mission.
Creating #3DHope would not be possible without the generous supporters of our mission.
DONATEWe are beginning clinical trials for children and teenagers and are now collecting information from those with limb differences for this trial and future clinical trials.
